Beth Gaudet is New Provincial Tax Commissioner

Provincial Treasury

Today, Provincial Treasurer Wes Sheridan announced that Beth Gaudet has assumed the role of Provincial Tax Commissioner.

“We’re thrilled that Beth has agreed to take on this important role in government,” said Minister Sheridan. “With her skills and experience, she’s a natural fit for the job. I am very much looking forward to working with Beth on issues that affect all Islanders.”

Ms. Gaudet returns to the provincial government, where she had ten years of service in a variety of leadership and management roles in Information Systems Delivery before moving to the Workers Compensations Board of Prince Edward Island in 2002. At that organization, she was Director of Corporate Services.

She also worked in a management capacity in the private sector, and was a part-time lecturer at the University of Prince Edward Island. She received her formal training at the University of New Brunswick where she attained a Bachelor of Science in Data Analysis and at the University of Western Ontario where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She continued her education in the years following graduation with an impressive list of programs and courses.

Ms. Gaudet replaces outgoing Tax Commissioner Jim Ramsay, who is retiring after more than 38 years with the provincial government.

“Jim Ramsay really made his mark throughout his career with government, always looking at ways to make the system work better for everyone,” said Minister Sheridan. ”I thank him for being an invaluable resource, both to me and to this department, and I wish him all the best in his retirement.”

As part of Provincial Treasury’s commitment to good succession planning, Jim will be retained as Assistant Tax Commissioner, where he will mentor and take on special projects over the next few months.
