Minister of Tourism Congratulates Charlottetown Airport Authority on Tenth Anniversary

Tourism

Valerie E. Docherty, Minister of Tourism for Prince Edward Island, extends congratulations to the Charlottetown Airport Authority as they celebrate their tenth year of operation since assuming operational and financial responsibility from the Federal Government in March 1999.

“The partnership Tourism PEI has fostered with the Charlottetown Airport Authority is one of great value,” says Minister Docherty. “With the addition of new flights, we have been able to bring more visitors to our Province. It has been a pleasure to work with the Charlottetown Airport Authority, the different carriers and our industry partners to support our initiatives that provide better access to our province.”

In the last ten years, the Charlottetown Airport Authority has had a 50% traffic increase by adding more carriers, new destinations and an international arrival terminal building.

“I commend the Authority board on this wonderful achievement and their ability to accomplish so many enviable milestones over a ten-year period,” added Minister Docherty. “We look forward to strengthening our partnership as we continue to build on our past successes.”
