Premier Ghiz and Minister Bertram Congratulate World Mens Junior Curling Silver Winners

Premier Robert Ghiz and Carolyn Bertram, Minister responsible for Sport issued a congratulatory message to members of the Brett Gallant rink today following the team’s silver medal win at the World Junior Curling Championships on Sunday.

“On behalf of the provincial government, I am pleased to congratulate the Brett Gallant rink for bringing the World silver medal home,” said Premier Ghiz. “You earned your place in the standings due to your skill, dedication, discipline and both mental and physical fitness, and I know your success will inspire young curlers throughout our province.”

“I want to commend Brett, Adam, Anson, Jamie and Stephen for a championship well played and for their silver medal standing against the best junior curlers in the world,” said Minister Bertram. “You were great ambassadors for our province and our country. I know I speak for all Islanders when I say how proud we are of your achievements.”

The Brett Gallant Rink consists of Gallant as Skip; Adam Casey, Third; Anson Carmody, Second; Jamie Danbrook, Lead; and is coached by Peter Gallant. The team, who were joined by Stephen Burgess of Fredericton as Fifth, represented Canada in the World Junior Curling Championships March 5 - 15 in Vancouver. The Brett Gallant Rink advanced to the Worlds when they took first place at the M&M Meat Shops Canadian Junior Mens Curling championship in February.
