Big Break Prince Edward Island Airs First Episode Monday, April 20 on Golf Channel

Tourism

The Honourable Valerie E. Docherty, Minister of Tourism, reminds Islanders to tune in for the first of 11 episodes of the Big Break Prince Edward Island TV reality series on April 20 at 10 p.m. on the GOLF CHANNEL network.

The 12 contestants, including Canadian contestant Derek Gillespie, will play in 10 elimination rounds with the final two facing off in match play to determine the winner.

It is money that will matter in the 11th season of the popular GOLF CHANNEL reality series Big Break. For the first time, contestants will compete for a $100,000 cash prize that can provide the winner a means to finance their dream of playing on a Tour for an entire year. It is also the first time the show will air in high definition.

“The Golf Channel airs in 110 million households worldwide and is a major influence in the lucrative US markets,” said Minister Docherty. “Tourism PEI’s partnership with the GOLF CHANNEL is intended to launch the Island’s golf product into the US market. This is a wonderful opportunity to gain extensive exposure of our first-class golf product and we are very excited that Prince Edward Island is the first-ever Canadian host for this reality TV show.”

Big Break Prince Edward Island will showcase six women and six men in a competition that tests every phase of their game, course management and mental toughness. It will showcase 12 highly skilled golfers who will compete on equal ground with no consideration of gender, in a variety of challenges that will see the winner awarded his/her “Big Break.”
