Official Opening of Art Exhibit at Fanningbank

Lieutenant Governor's Office

Her Honour, the Honourable Barbara A. Hagerman, Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island, officially opened the 2009 Exhibit at Government House entitled “175 Years at Government House” at a celebration held yesterday. This project was curated by Kevin Rice, Director of the Confederation Centre Art Gallery, and Linda Berko, Conservator and Curator of Collections with Museum and Heritage.

This is the third summer an exhibit has been held at Fanningbank. “This year marks the 175th Birthday of Government House and the focus of the exhibition celebrates this wonderful milestone,” said Her Honour. The exhibition includes many early sketches, paintings and photos of the property.

Government House was built in 1834 and is the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor.

Government House is open to the public Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., July 2 - August 28.
