Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour

Hon. Carolyn Bertram, Minister responsible for Aboriginal Affairs, is extending her condolences to the Aboriginal community on the death of Donald Marshall, Jr. who died on August 6 due to complications from a double lung transplant in 2003.

“Mr. Marshall suffered a grave injustice that robbed him of much of his youth, yet he rose above it to continue to fight for Aboriginal rights on behalf of Mi’kmaq and Maliseet people everywhere in the Atlantic provinces,” said Minister Bertram. “He will be remembered for his perseverance and quiet determination. My condolences go out to his family and friends and all who grieve his loss.”
