Temporary Change in Hours of Out Patient Services at Stewart Memorial Hospital

Health

The public is advised that there will be changes to the hours of operation for out patient services at Stewart Memorial Hospital for two days, Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22, 2009.

Out patient services will be offered between the hours of 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. during both days. A physician will be on site during these times.

“The change in hours of out patient services is due to temporary physician unavailability,” said Gayle Lamont, Administrator for Stewart Memorial Hospital. “It is important for us to manage our human resources in a manner that both respects staff and ensures minimal interruption of service to Islanders. We are committed to providing quality health care to the residents of Tyne Valley and are appreciative of the staff and physicians who work together to ensure the provision of services.”

Regular hours of out patient services will resume on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at 9 a.m.

Emergency services in West Prince are not impacted by this temporary change. For medical emergencies, the public should call 911 or seek emergency services through the Western Hospital in Alberton or the Prince County Hospital in Summerside. Services are also available at Community Hospital O’Leary Urgent Care Centre.

The Department of Health and physicians and staff of Stewart Memorial Hospital are committed to providing quality health care to the residents of Tyne Valley and regret any inconvenience this may cause.
