Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour
“I am delighted to congratulate Matthew on his Gold Medal achievement. This is a wonderful accomplishment for a young athlete and a wonderful way to kick off the second week of the Games,” said the Honourable Carolyn Bertram, Minister of Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour.
Matthew Caseley surpassed British Columbia’s Angus Taylor throw by .67 of metre. In 2008 Matthew placed second at Espoir in hammerthrow. He is also Prince Edward Island’s hammerthrow and weightthrow record holder.
Athletics competitions will continue all week at the UPEI Alumni Canada Games Place in Charlottetown. For more information on the 2009 Canada Games schedule, visit www.2009canadagames.
