The Charlottetown Soup Kitchen will be able to meet the needs of the community more readily thanks to donations from the Province of Prince Edward Island and the Parkdale-Sherwood Lions Club.

“The Province of Prince Edward Island’s donation is a part of our government’s strong commitment to support important programs in our local communities,” said Minister of Environment, Energy and Forestry, Richard Brown. “The Charlottetown Soup Kitchen provides services to many people in the area and this donation will help in their day-to-day operations.”

The donations will go towards the purchase of a new dishwasher.

“For the past 50 years, we have been working to serve the needs of our community,” said Parkdale-Sherwood Lions Club President, Keith Merry. “We are very pleased to contribute to this project.”

The Parkdale-Sherwood Lions Club donated $500 towards the purchase. The Province donated $1,700 through the Island Community Fund.

The Island Community Fund represents a provincial investment of $27.5 million over five years to address the infrastructure needs of PEI communities.
