Approval Granted for Mink Farm

Environment, Energy & Forestry

The province has completed its environmental impact assessment of the proposed mink farm in Springton and has granted approval for the operation, says Environment, Energy and Forestry Minister Richard Brown.

“The environmental impact assessment is a thorough review of the operation to ensure there will be no harmful impacts on the environment,” said Minister Brown. “The public was invited to provide input on the proposal and I am satisfied that the issues raised have been addressed by the proponent.”

The Department of Agriculture also reviewed the proposal.

Currently there are 12 mink farms operating across Prince Edward Island.
