Business owners gain valuable knowledge at Technology Summit

Innovation PEI

It was a full day of learning for 80 Island business operators that attended the first-ever Innovation PEI Technology Summit in June, says Innovation and Advanced Learning Minister Allan Campbell.

“A variety of small- and medium-sized business operators took part in the summit, in addition to representatives from non-profit groups and other community organizations,” said Minister Campbell. “The Summit provided an opportunity for them to learn from local experts and about the advantages of incorporating technology into the workplace.”

The one-day event was designed to educate small business owners on the advantages of using information and communication technology (ICT) in their businesses. Participants were delighted with the chance to learn from successful Island business owners and entrepreneurs.

Island experts led a variety of sessions on various topics including social media, free web tools, and web-based management and communication. Interactive lab sessions allowed participants to learn first-hand the skill and ease of ICT adaptation. The keynote address was presented by Erik Moll from Microsoft Canada.

“As an entrepreneur, I viewed the Innovation PEI Technology Summit as an important part of my professional development,” said Peggy Miles with Red Envelope Marketing and Communications. “As a member of the marketing world, it’s really important to keep up to date on business technology – not only for my company, but also for the clients I serve. This event provided vital networking opportunities and a chance to interact with people from an array of businesses and industries. I look forward to attending future summits and I will be encouraging fellow entrepreneurs and professionals to do the same.”
