Minister thanks Fire Marshal for 20 years service

Retiring Provincial Fire Marshal David Blacquiere has made Prince Edward Island a much safer place, says Minister of Justice and Public Safety Doug W. Currie.

“David leaves a legacy of a safer environment for all Islanders,” said Mr. Currie. “Throughout the past 20 years, he has diligently championed for regulations, practices and products that would ensure safer living, working and recreation environments throughout our province. He wore his uniform with pride and always served with compassion. In a role that could be physically and emotionally draining at times, David inspired confidence in the fire service and in fire fighters throughout the province.”

The Fire Marshal’s Office is a section of the Office of Public Safety, a division of the Department of Justice and Public Safety. The Fire Marshal administers the Fire Prevention Act and Regulations as well as the National Fire Safety Codes and Standards (NFPA), provides information, education and leadership to fire departments, and assists institutional, municipal and emergency service officials across the province enhance their capabilities to protect citizens from the devastation of fire and all related hazards.

“On behalf of the Department of Justice and Public Safety and the Government of Prince Edward Island, I want to thank Provincial Fire Marshal David Blacquiere for 20 years of dedicated service to the Fire Marshal’s Office and to the people of Prince Edward Island.” said Mr. Currie.
