Prince Edward Island life praised in new video series

Innovation PEI

New online videos profiling life on Prince Edward Island show how pleased both new and established Islanders are with their decision to call this province home, says Allan Campbell, Minister of Innovation and Advanced Learning.

“As someone born and raised on Prince Edward Island, it is easy to take for granted how fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful place and in such an open society,” said Minister Campbell. “It is inspiring to hear the stories of people who fall in love with our province for its beauty, its opportunities, its freedoms and – most importantly – its people.”

The videos, a product of the Population Secretariat, were created as promotional tools to assist in increasing the awareness of Prince Edward Island across Canada and internationally and will be beneficial for targeted skilled worker recruitment in the areas of bioscience, aerospace and IT.

“I was living in Montreal and with the long commutes and hectic pace I knew life could be so much better somewhere else,” said testimonial participant Lucie Morin. “We came here nine years ago on vacation and I knew this is where I wanted to be; we just fell in love with Prince Edward Island, it felt like home. In making the move, I’ve gained three hours a day in quality time that I can spend volunteering, spending time with friends and going to concerts and participating in activities I love.”

The videos profile a number of individuals from different walks of life including a born and bred Islander, a refugee family, an interprovincial migrant and three videos from immigrants from around the globe. In addition to the English videos, there is a video from a Chinese newcomer available in English and Mandarin and Lucie Morin’s story is available in English and French.
