The communities of Eldon and Point Prim will benefit with investments from the Island Community Fund, says Fisheries, Aquaculture and Rural Development Minister Ron MacKinley.

“The Government of Prince Edward Island is very pleased to partner with Scouts Canada on the revitalization of Camp Buchan which has a long history as a popular Scout camp on Prince Edward Island,” said Minister MacKinley. “This investment will also support Scouts Canada’s efforts to increase its membership on Prince Edward Island.”

The Island Community Fund is investing $39,000 in building renovations and property development for Camp Buchan, with Scouts Canada contributing $13,000. The total cost of the project is $52,000.

The Eldon Legion is receiving $7,100 from the Island Community Fund for necessary repairs and improvements which include new windows and siding. The Legion is contributing $2,500 towards the project, which costs $9,600.

“The Eldon Legion is an important meeting place in the community as the host of the local events and fundraisers,” said the minister. “Improving community facilities will benefit the residents for years to come.”

The Island Community Fund is focused on addressing infrastructure needs in communities across the province.
