An afternoon reception was held yesterday at Government House to officially open a summer exhibition marking the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. The Honourable Frank Lewis, Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island, and Mrs. Dorothy Lewis are hosting an exhibition devoted to the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

This exhibition, curated by Linda Berko and Monique Lafontaine, features china commemorating the Coronation, the Silver Jubilee, the Golden Jubilee and other Canadian events she attended. Photographs taken during the three royal visits to the Island in 1959, 1964 and 1973 will be also be highlighted. Scrapbooks and other memorabilia, such as programs and planning booklets created for her visits to the Island, will be available for visitors to peruse with the hope that these will revive their personal memories of Queen Elizabeth.

The curators of the exhibition would like to thank members of the public who have contributed to this exhibition, particularly Heather Dingwell who graciously lent part of her extensive collection of memorabilia.

Government House is open to the public Monday to Friday, from July 3 to the end of August, between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. For further information on Government House, please call (902) 368-5480.

This is the sixth summer exhibition presented at Government House.
