Thanks to a government investment in public transit, the County Line Express will continue its daily routes between Charlottetown and Summerside, says Finance, Energy and Municipal Affairs Minister Wes Sheridan.

“Many Islanders rely on this bus route to commute to school or work,” says Minister Sheridan. “This investment will allow the County Line Express to maintain a vital transportation link between Summerside, Charlottetown, Cornwall and Stratford. We are pleased to work with route operator T3 Trius Transit to preserve a service that strengthens our municipalities.”

The Province of Prince Edward Island will provide $9,500 a month to T3 Trius Transit to assist in the operation of the County Line Express.

“Provincial and Municipal Financial Support has put Public Transit front and centre within our Province,” says an enthusiastic and grateful Mike Cassidy, owner of T3 Trius Transit. “We now encourage Islanders to support and use our service.”

According to Federation of Prince Edward Island Municipalities President, Bruce MacDougall, the demand for public transit in PEI has been growing steadily in recent years. “This a very valuable service to Islanders,” says MacDougall, “and I’m extremely pleased that the provincial government is supporting this important public service.”

“Access to this frequent, reliable and convenient public transit system will make a real difference to many post-secondary students who travel between Charlottetown and Summerside for classes,” says Minister Sheridan. “This funding will provide a measure of certainty for those who rely on the County Line Express for their daily commute.”
