Environment, Labour and Justice

Provincial Fire Marshall David Rossiter was called to a structure fire at Kildare Capes on Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. The structure was a two-story workshop.

The Alberton Fire Department responded to this incident at 2:46 p.m. with assistance from Tignish and Miminegash Fire Departments. The structure was completely destroyed. There was an occupant working in the building at the time of the fire. There were no injuries in this incident.

The fire has been ruled accidental in nature. It originated in the northeast corner of the main level of the building. The cause has been attributed to sparks from a welder coming in contact with combustibles.
