“The Government of Prince Edward Island, through the Workforce Development Fund, will assist local businesses to grow by helping them provide skill development and training opportunities to their valued employees,” said Minister Roach. “It is essential that we support Islanders in their career development here in Prince Edward Island. A highly skilled workforce enables local businesses to expand their operating capabilities, creating new hiring opportunities and accelerating economic growth for our province.”
The Workforce Development Fund is designed to support training solutions identified by private sector businesses and/or industry. This is a partnership between Skills PEI and Innovation PEI.
The three components of the Workforce Development Fund are:
• Workforce Learning: skills assessments for employees, skill gap analysis for industry and/or program development material.
• Workforce Innovation: training costs, certification process costs and/or a portion of employee wages while participating in training.
• Workforce Exposure: participant allowances/wages and/or a portion of employer related cost.
“The Workforce Development Fund exemplifies the Government of Prince Edward Island’s commitment to our private sector. By supporting local business through programs such as the Workforce Development Fund, we are helping to create more jobs for Islanders, and helping our province’s economic status,” said Minister Roach.
