“By making a change to the eligibility criteria, we expand the scope of the Graduate Mentorship Program to include more recent graduates,” said Roach. “I strongly encourage all Islanders who have recently graduated from a post-secondary institution to inquire about the benefits of this program by visiting the Skills PEI website.”

The Graduate Mentorship Program is an employment program funded in whole or part through the Canada PEI Labour Market Development Agreement and/or the Labour Market Agreement and administered by SkillsPEI. The program is designed to encourage employers to hire post-secondary graduates and provide a valuable work experience and mentorship opportunity in their field of study.

To be eligible for the Graduate Mentorship Program, students used to be required to have a current claim for employment insurance (EI) benefits, have a previous EI claim whose benefit period ended in the preceding 36 months, or have a previous benefit period that began in the preceding 60 months for maternity or parental benefits. These requirements have since been removed, allowing students who are not EI eligible to apply for the program.
