Environment, Labour and Justice

Environment, Labour and Justice Minister Janice Sherry issued the following statement in recognition of Labour Day.

“On Monday, September 2, Prince Edward Island joins Canada and the world in celebrating Labour Day.

“Prince Edward Island is known for its skilled, hard-working labour force. Our traditional industries of farming and fishing have been built on the efforts and industry of countless Island workers. Our emerging industries depend on the reliable, hardworking people who make up the Island workforce.

“The Government of Prince Edward Island supports Prince Edward Island’s workforce by upholding employment standards, by delivering a comprehensive Worker’s Compensation system and by offering support for skills training.

“On behalf of the government of Prince Edward Island, I want to thank the women and men of the Island workforce who have helped this province prosper and who have built a better life for all Islanders.”
