Innovation PEI

Premier Ghiz said today that two game development studios of EA All Play, a label of Electronic Arts Inc. (EA), are establishing a new presence in downtown Charlottetown.

“EA is known worldwide as a leader in interactive entertainment,” said Premier Ghiz. “Technology is one of our key prospecting sectors for Prince Edward Island, and we are so pleased to have EA establishing its presence in the capital city and utilizing this amazing new space at the new Welsh Owen Building.”

“Technology is a fast paced sector and as a province we realize that we need to be innovative and forward-thinking to capitalize on emerging opportunities,” said Innovation and Advanced Learning Minister Allen F. Roach. “Through Innovation PEI, we are pleased to be working with EA All Play, and supporting its presence here in Prince Edward Island.”

EA All Play creates games for mobile devices and online environments. The company will bring studio operations from Bight Games and Other Ocean Interactive into a single, larger work space in downtown Charlottetown. As such, EA All Play will become the first tenants of the new Welsh Owen building, enabled in part through a grant obtained through Innovation PEI’s rental incentive program. EA will utilize ~10,000 sq. ft. of the new facility.

The EA All Play studios in Charlottetown were instrumental in the development of The Simpsons™Tapped Out, one of EA’s most popular mobile games.
