Grade one students to receive free book

Tourism and Culture

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote family literacy, the public library service, in partnership with TD Bank Financial Group, will distribute a free paperback book to every Grade one student in the province, says Minister of Tourism and Culture Robert Henderson.

“The public library service works very hard to promote reading and make it fun for the whole family,” said Minister Henderson. “The annual book giveaway to Grade one students across the province provides a great opportunity for kids and parents to read together. I thank TD Bank for partnering with the public library service on this great promotion.”

This year each child will receive a copy of Loris Lesynski's story Boy Soup. It is available in French as La soupe de garçons.

Reviews of the book have been highly praiseworthy. Written in rhyming couplets, and with bright cartoon pictures, it is sure to appeal to all young readers.

Loris Lesynski was born in Sweden and moved to Toronto with her family when she was two years old. She has had a life-long passion for writing.
