2014 Royal Tour details unveiled

Premier's Office

Prince Edward Island is honoured to host Their Royal Highnesses, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, May 19 and 20, says Premier Robert Ghiz.

“Prince Edward Island is delighted to be included in this historic tour during 2014 as we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference,” said Premier Ghiz. “The Royal Tour is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the history, natural beauty, vibrant culture and people of our province.”

Today, Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, announced Charlottetown, Bonshaw and Cornwall as communities included in the 2014 Royal Tour. Royal Tour stops also include Manitoba and Nova Scotia.

There will be a number of opportunities for Islanders to see their Royal Highnesses, including Victoria Day Celebrations and fireworks in Charlottetown on May 19.

“His Royal Highness last visited Prince Edward Island in 1983 and this will be Her Royal Highness’s first visit,” said Premier Ghiz. “I encourage all Islanders to welcome Their Royal Highnesses to our beautiful Island by taking part in these celebrations.”
