On Saturday, September 6, 2014 Jim Prentice was named the new leader of the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party and premier designate.

“On behalf of the Government of Prince Edward Island, I want to congratulate Alberta premier-designate Jim Prentice on his recent leadership victory,” said Premier Ghiz. “As demonstrated in last month’s meeting of Canada’s Premiers here in Charlottetown, all provinces and territories agree that we must work together in the best interest of all Canadians. I was pleased to hear Mr. Prentice reference teamwork in his victory speech Saturday night as collaboration is vital between all regions.

“I look forward to working with Alberta’s incoming 16th premier as we continue to build on the strong existing relationship between the Government of Prince Edward Island and the Government of Alberta.”
