Many municipalities still accepting candidate nominations

Finance and Energy

Most Island municipalities are still accepting nominations for the November 3 council election, Finance, Energy and Municipal Affairs Minister Wes Sheridan says.

“There’s still time to file as a candidate for office in nearly 70 Prince Edward Island municipalities,” Minister Sheridan said. “If you’ve considered running but just haven’t made it official, now’s the time to be the change you want to see in your community.”

Monday, October 20 is the last day to offer your name as a candidate for council in the following municipalities:

• the towns of Alberton, O'Leary, Kensington, Borden-Carleton, North Rustico, Montague, Georgetown, and Souris; and

• the communities of North Shore and Tignish.

The remaining municipalities (except Charlottetown, Cornwall, Stratford and Summerside, whose nomination deadline was October 10) will host a special election meeting. Nominations may be taken from the floor at the time of these meetings.

For meeting times or further details, please contact your municipality or visit www.municipalelectionspei.ca.
