Volunteers recognized during Canadian Library Month

Tourism and Culture

The province is celebrating Canadian Library Month by recognizing many of the volunteers who do so much to promote literacy and who contribute time and effort to assist the public library service, says Minister of Tourism and Culture Robert Henderson.

“Volunteers play a vital role in the services we deliver through our public libraries,” said Minister Henderson. “Canadian Library Month is an excellent opportunity to recognize their efforts and to highlight the important contribution libraries make to life on Prince Edward Island. To each and every one of our volunteers I say thank you.”

The theme of this year’s Canadian Library Month is “Libraries Inspire.” It’s a chance to reflect on all the different ways libraries can bring about positive change in the lives of Canadians.

“The Public Library Service on Prince Edward Island is committed to developing programming that can help open new opportunities and inspire the imaginations of Islanders,” said Minister Henderson. “That programming can also help residents strengthen their sense of community, and learn more about Canadian culture and heritage.”
