New resource available to help address cyberbullying

Environment, Labour and Justice

A new resource on the topic of cyberbullying in Prince Edward Island is now available, says Minister of Environment, Labour and Justice and Attorney General Janice Sherry.

“All Islanders, including parents, educators, youth workers and justice officials are encouraged to not only read the report but to use it as a resource and support when addressing cyberbullying,” said Minister Sherry. “I would like to personally thank Women’s Network PEI, as well as the countless participants who contributed to the creation of this important initiative.”

Taking Stock of Cyberbullying: A Scan of the PEI Context is the result of community consultation and an environmental scan developed through interviews, focus groups and surveys conducted across the Island to provide a better understanding of how cyberbullying is affecting Island youth.

The report includes information on how cyberbullying impacts Prince Edward Island, current trends in the province, the potential effects of cyberbullying, how victims can access support, prevention, and much more.

It is a free resource available online: Taking Stock of Cyberbullying. This project was sponsored by the Department of Environment, Labour and Justice, funded by the Justice Canada, Youth Justice Fund and co-ordinated by Women’s Network PEI.
