Vote for municipal councillors on November 3

Finance and Energy

Islanders can be the change they wish to see in their local communities by voting in the November 3 municipal elections, Finance, Energy and Municipal Affairs Minister Wes Sheridan says.

“Municipal councils are the level of government that is closest to Islanders, so it matters very much who’s around those tables,” Minister Sheridan said. “Your vote is your voice, so please remember to use it on November 3.”

Nearly all Prince Edward Island municipalities (except for the Resort Municipality, which voted this summer) will be electing councillors to four-year terms on November 3. This will put all cities, towns and communities on the same election schedule going forward.

To vote, Islanders must be 18 years of age, a Canadian citizen, and a resident of their municipality for the past six months. To ensure that you are on the voter list – or for information on obtaining mail-in ballots – contact your municipality or www.electionspei.ca.

Residents in smaller Island municipalities can still put their names forward for council at special election meetings being held the evening of November 3, where nominations will be accepted from the floor. For times and locations, contact your municipality or visit www.municipalelectionspei.ca.
