Portsmouth Atlantic concludes deal with South Korean shipbuilder

Innovation PEI

A recent Asian trade mission has allowed Charlottetown’s Portsmouth Atlantic to secure a $1.75 million contract with South Korean shipbuilder HI AIR KOREA Co., Ltd. (HAK) says Innovation and Advanced Learning Minister Allen Roach.

“Portsmouth is a promising member of the Island’s aerospace and defence sector and this contract is a great opportunity for them,” said Minister Roach. “Through trade missions and export development, our government works hard to connect Island businesses with the world’s growing markets. This contract for Portsmouth is just one example of how Island businesses can succeed and seize opportunities anywhere in the world.”

Portsmouth Atlantic’s new contract is to supply air filtration units for a ship to be built in Korea for the Royal Norwegian Navy. All the design work for these innovative and high tech modular units will be done by the Portsmouth Atlantic engineering team on Prince Edward Island.

“We are extremely pleased with this contract and we look forward to a long relationship with HAK,” says Portsmouth Atlantic’s Business Development Manager Allan Dale. “None of this would be possible without the tremendous support received from the PEI Provincial Government, specifically Innovation PEI.”
