Islanders asked to drive with care during wet weather

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal is reminding motorists to drive with care during the wet weather and to call 511 or visit www.511.gov.pe.ca for the latest road closures, says Minister Robert Vessey.

“The heavy rain is causing localized flooding and culvert washouts, particularly in West Prince,” said the minister. “Drivers should slow down, stay away from flooded areas, and be prepared for detours.”

Road closures as of 3 p.m. include:

• Argyle Road - Alberton

• Albion Road - Alberton

• Harper Road - Tignish

• Jerry Road - Bloomfield

• Old Palmer Road - St Louis

• Richards Road - Springhill

• Centerline Road - Alma

• Allen Road - Arlington

It is anticipated that other roads may need to be closed throughout the day and overnight. The latest closures can be found by calling 5-1-1 or visiting www.511.gov.pe.ca.
