Brookvale set to open two runs this Friday

Tourism and Culture

Island skiers will finally have a chance to hit the slopes this week thanks to an extended snap of cold weather and hard work by staff at Brookvale Provincial Ski Park, says Minister of Tourism and Culture Robert Henderson.

“Warm weather and lack of snow have delayed the opening of the hill so far this season, but the staff at Brookvale has done a tremendous job in very cold conditions over the last few days to get two runs ready for this Friday,” said Minister Henderson. “I invite all Islanders to come out to Brookvale this weekend and in the weeks to come. It’s a great way to get active and enjoy the outdoors.”

Two runs, Front Lawn and Bunny Hill, will open to the public this Friday at 1:30 p.m. Crews will continue making snow and additional runs will open over the coming weeks as conditions permit.

Brown’s Volkswagen Ski School lessons will begin on Saturday, January 10.

The Nordic facility at Brookvale remains closed until further notice.
