Additional road projects announced

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal

Additional road and bridge projects will benefit Island communities, says Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Minister Alan McIsaac.

“Strategic investments in transportation projects will result in safer intersections and more efficient roads,” said Minister McIsaac. “Our government is pleased to continue to make investments in roads, bridges and intersections to improve the quality of life in our communities.”

The second round of tenders for the 2015 construction season was released today and includes two roundabouts announced last month.

• Route 1 - Cornwall – resurfacing 1.1 km

• Route 2 - Springfield – resurfacing 1.5 km

• Route 2 - Tignish – resurfacing 2.4 km

• Route 2 - Norboro / Kensington – resurfacing 2.7 km

• Route 2 - Farmington – resurfacing 1.0 km

• Route 2 - Marshfield – resurfacing 1.4 km

• Route 4 - Primrose – resurfacing 1.2 km

• Route 5 & 22 - Baldwin Road – roundabout construction 0.5 km

• Route 6 - Clinton – bridge structure replacement

These are in addition to the eight highway resurfacing or reconstruction projects announced January 29, 2015.
