Justice John McQuaid appointed acting Conflict of Interest Commissioner

Premier's Office

Premier Wade MacLauchlan is pleased to announce that Hon. John A McQuaid, retired Justice of the Prince Edward Island Court of Appeal, has been appointed acting Conflict of Interest Commissioner.

McQuaid practiced law for 20 years prior to becoming justice of the Court of the Appeal, a position he held from 1993 to his retirement in 2013.

Pursuant to the Conflict of Interest Act, McQuaid will serve as acting commissioner until the Legislative Assembly appoints a new commissioner.

“All Prince Edward Islanders can be appreciative that retired Justice McQuaid has agreed to serve in this capacity,” said the Premier. “Justice McQuaid will bring his outstanding reputation for integrity, legal expertise and knowledge of government to this important role.”
