McIsaac named government house leader

Premier's Office

Premier Wade MacLauchlan announced that Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Alan McIsaac will serve as Government House Leader.

“Islanders expect that the Legislative Assembly will conduct its business in an efficient and orderly manner, and focus on issues that are important to them,” said Premier MacLauchlan. “Having a cabinet minister with Alan McIsaac’s experience serve as Government House Leader will help ensure that the upcoming session will be positive and productive.”

The government house leader is responsible for the government’s day-to-day business in the Legislative Assembly and liaises with other parties on the conduct of bills and debates.

The house leader also presents the position of Government on points of order before the Speaker.

The Legislative Assembly opens on June 3 with the reading of the Speech from the Throne.
