Brookvale Provincial Ski Park Offers Special Rates as Part of Islander Day

Tourism

Premier Robert Ghiz and Minister of Tourism Valerie Docherty invite Islanders of all ages to celebrate Islander Day with family and friends at Brookvale Provincial Ski Park. Islander Day falls on the second Monday in February, and this year’s holiday is Monday, February 9, 2009. The new holiday was announced in the Spring of 2008, making Prince Edward Island the fifth province in Canada to create a holiday in February. The Island joins Manitoba, Ontario, Alberta and Saskatchewan which all celebrate Family Day in February.

“Our government created Islander Day to enable and encourage our Island families to spend more time together,” said Premier Ghiz. “Spending the day at Brookvale is a great way for the whole family to have some fun and be active at the same time. We hope that Islanders will take advantage of and enjoy this new holiday.”

In celebration of the first annual Islander Day holiday, Brookvale Provincial Ski Park will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and will offer special rates:

Alpine lift is $6 plus tax

Ski rentals are $6 plus tax

Snowboard Rental is $11 plus tax

The Nordic site is $5 plus tax

Nordic ski rentals are $5 plus tax

“Brookvale offers a variety of winter activities for people of all ages to enjoy and I encourage families to spend the day together at Brookvale,” said Minister Docherty. “The staff have worked diligently in preparation for our winter season, and Islander Day is a perfect opportunity to get out and take advantage of the special rates.”
