School Board Interim Trustees Appointed

Education and Early Childhood Development

To support a smooth transition to a single English Language School Board, two interim trustees have been appointed, says Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Alan McIsaac.

Patsy MacLean from the Eastern School District and Gary Doucette from the Western School Board have been named as interim trustees and will continue the work of the school board trustees until the new board begins.

The transition to a single English Language School Board continues to evolve. Earlier this month, the name for the new school board, superintendent and management team were announced.

“Both Ms. MacLean and Mr. Doucette are outstanding professionals and community leaders and I am confident they will continue to be a valuable asset to our Education system,” says Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Alan McIsaac. “Their knowledge and experience will be of great benefit during the transition to a new English School Board.”

Mr. Doucette has been a longstanding trustee, serving 11 years as a Board Chair for the Western School Board and 16 years as a Trustee. Mr. Doucette is also a great community leader, actively involved in various community organizations.

Ms. MacLean has been acting as the Trustee for the Eastern School District since February 2011. During this time, she has been very active in the community, consulting with parents and school staff, holding regular open monthly meetings and moving policies forward.

A call for applications by those interested in serving as an official trustee with the new school board will go out in the coming months. The new board of trustees takes office on January 1, 2013.
