Deadline approaches for school board trustees applications

Education and Early Childhood Development

The deadline to apply for positions as trustees on the new English Language School Board is fast approaching and Islanders are encouraged to get involved, says Education and Early Childhood Minister Alan McIsaac.

“It is important to have strong parent and community voices in our schools,” said Minister McIsaac. “We are looking for people who are familiar with the changing needs of the education system and have an interest in enhancing student achievement across Prince Edward Island.”

Applications and resumes must be received by Monday, July 30, 2012. Effective governance depends on the right mixture of knowledge, skills, personal qualities and diversity. Government will appoint a board chair and 10 trustees from across the province. The board should reflect the diversity of the communities served, including demographic, cultural, economic, geographic, gender, ethnic and social characteristics.

The new board will take office January 2, 2013.
