Province awards tender for Montague Intermediate School expansion

Education and Early Childhood Development

Construction will soon begin on the addition to Montague Intermediate School, says Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Alan McIsaac.

“Tender results are in for the $1.3 million expansion to Montague Intermediate School, and Brighton Construction has been awarded the contract to construct the addition,” said Minister McIsaac.

The 6,100 square-foot addition will include new space for woodworking, metals and visual arts, as well as an instructor’s office, a small computer lab and an expansion of the multipurpose room. The new band room will feature four practice rooms, a music instructor’s office and a sound studio.

“Government is committed to providing students in Eastern Kings with appropriate facilities to meet their programming needs and we are pleased to see the Montague Intermediate School expansion progressing,” said McIsaac. “This project has been identified as a priority for the past several years and, with some of the planning and design already complete, we were able to move the project along faster.”

Construction on the Montague Intermediate School addition will begin in the Spring and is expected to be compete by Fall 2013.
