French speaking students across Prince Edward Island will have an opportunity to visit with an accomplished author next week.

Michèle Marineau will be visiting Island French schools and libraries from Monday, November 4, to Wednesday, November 6. The Montréal author has written several books for children, youth and young adults. She is well known for books such as Barbouillette, Petillo, Marion and the new world, Cassiopeia and Route Chlifa.

All stops on the author tour are free and open to the public. It is an initiative of the Public Library Service, the French School Board and Communication-Jeunesse.

Ms. Marineau’s schedule is as follows:

• Wednesday, November 6 at 9:30 a.m., École la Belle-Cloche, Fortune

• Wednesday, November 6 at 1:30 p.m., Bibliothèque Dr.-J.-Edmond Arsenault, Charlottetown

About the Author:

Michèle Marineau was born in Montréal, Québec in 1955. She studied medicine, art history and translation at the University of Montreal. After that, she began working in the field of publishing, first as an editor and translator, then as a writer.

The author was awarded the Governor General’s Award in 1988 for Cassiopeia. In 1993, Route Chlifa earned her a second Governor General’s Award.
