PEI 2014 Homecoming Contest invites Islanders to Watch, Share and Win!

Tourism and Culture

PEI 2014 is enlisting Islanders’ help to get the word out to friends and family living away to come home to PEI for the province-wide celebrations in 2014. The PEI 2014 Homecoming Contest is encouraging Islanders to watch the 2014 Homecoming video, share it on social media and enter to win a cash prize of $2014.

“2014 will be a fantastic year for all Islanders and those living away will not want to miss it,” says Minister of Tourism and Culture, Robert Henderson. “The PEI 2014 Homecoming Contest is a fun and engaging way for Islanders to encourage friends and family to come home to PEI during this spectacular celebration year.”

To watch the video and enter the contest, Islanders are asked to visit www.pei2014.ca/homecoming and provide email addresses of three people they would like to invite home to PEI next year. Tourism PEI will email a special homecoming invitation to each name provided.

The 2014 Homecoming video promotes the wide variety of events and activities taking place across the Island in 2014 while showcasing some of the Island’s most popular attractions, including Green Gables house, music festivals, golf courses and beaches. The winner of the $2014 top prize will be selected through a random draw and announced on Islander Day – February 17, 2014. Other weekly prizes will be awarded beginning December 6, 2013 until the contest closes.

In 2014, Canadians will mark the 150th anniversary (Sesquicentennial) of the historic 1864 Charlottetown Conference, which paved the way to Confederation. PEI 2014 Inc. is facilitating the planning, promotion and implementation of the Sesquicentennial celebrations. The PEI 2014 celebrations are made possible through generous support from the Government of Prince Edward Island and the Government of Canada. The year-long and province-wide PEI 2014 program of events will honour the past, celebrate the present and plan a bold tomorrow.
