Trans Canada Highway improvements planned for this season
Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal
Improvements to the Trans Canada Highway (Route 1) are among the additional road projects that will be made during this construction season, says Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Minister Robert Vessey.
The Trans Canada Highway welcomes visitors and helps transport Island goods to national and international markets, Minister Vessey said. We are continuing to make investments in the highway that will create jobs, build our economy, and improve safety and efficiency for generations to come.
The projects announced today are in addition to previous rounds of tenders released March 5 and January 30 and include:
Tryon Construction of a new 1.6 kilometre curve on Route 1;
Bonshaw 800 metres of widening for a left-turn lane on Route 1;
Clyde River 275 metres of widening for a right-turn lane on Route 1; and
Primrose/Bridgetown 2.7 kilometres of resurfacing and shoulder widening.
Tenders for this round of projects will be accepted until 2 p.m. on June 26. To learn more about tendering opportunities please visit gov.pe.ca/tenders.
