Shop local on Small Business Saturday

Innovation and Advanced Learning Minister Allen Roach met with Jana Furness at The Juice Box in Montague, to show his support for Canada’s Small Business Saturday, which will be held across Canada on October 25. The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) has partnered with Interac®, to sponsor a special day to celebrate entrepreneurs.

“Small Business Saturday is a reminder of how important the small-business sector is in Prince Edward Island,” said Minister Roach. “We want to take this opportunity to celebrate and support the many entrepreneurs who help to strengthen our communities and our economy. I encourage everyone to take time this weekend and visit a local business, like The Juice Box.”

Business owners are encouraged to register online at www.shopsmallbiz.ca. The process is fast, easy and completely free. Consumers can punch in the first three digits of their postal code to find deals in their neighbourhoods.

“You don’t need to look far in a place like PEI to find a fabulous small business,” said Erin McGrath-Gaudet, CFIB’s director for PEI. “Small Business Saturday is a great opportunity for Islanders to get out and support the entrepreneurs who contribute so much to our local communities.”

As Canada’s largest association of small- and medium-sized businesses, CFIB is Powered by Entrepreneurs™. Established in 1971, CFIB takes direction from more than 109,000 members in every sector nationwide, giving independent business a strong and influential voice at all levels of government and helping to grow the economy.
