Biographical history

(Lois) Ann Coles was born on 8 October 1943 in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, the only child of George Preston MacLeod and Margaret Frances Munn. She was raised on her parents' farm on Graham's Road and attended Kensington High School and Prince of Wales College. After obtaining her R.N. from the Prince Edward Island Hospital School of Nursing, she practiced her profession in British Columbia and in PEI. She also spent eight years as a title searcher with the law firm now known as Foster, O'Keefe. Pursuing a life long interest in family history, she became a Certified Genealogist (Canada) in 1986 and devoted much time to the PEI Genealogical Society of which she was a charter member and served as the first woman President. She contributed many articles to the Society "Newsletter" and the "Island magazine" and in 1992 co-authored the book "Some emigrants from Offaly and Laois". Prior to her death, Ann was compiling research for her book "From Island to Island, a history of the Neil and Elizabeth (McLeod) Munn family and their descendants". Her co-author, Linda Harding, will be completing work on this book. Ann MacLeod married John William Lindsay Coles on 20 June 1969 and they resided in North Milton. Ann died on 16 November 1996.
