Biographical history

The Bonshaw Dairying Company was organized at a meeting in the village hall of Bonshaw, Prince Edward Island on 9 April 1898. Directors were elected and there were 102 shareholders. It was decided to erect a creamery at McRae's spring. The company does not appear to have expanded to produce butter or cheese as it is not listed in the Journals of the Legislative Assembly from 1898 to 1915. It is probable that the milk was separated at the creamery, the cream then being sent to Crapaud for further processing and the skim milk returned to the farmer shareholders. It is believed that the company closed circa 1915.
