Biographical history

Donald McDonald (1850-1932), farmed at New Zealand, Lot 44 in Kings County, Prince Edward Island. He was married to Rosena Clark (1863-1958) and raised a large family of eleven.

Custodial history

Scope and content

The fonds consists of a diary kept by Donald McDonald between 1866 and 1881 and some receipts from the Office of Public Lands recording payments made by Alan and John McDonald on 50 acres of land in Lot 44 from 1868-1895. As well as recording accounts, weather, and daily farming, fishing and lumbering chores, the diary also records marriages and events in the community.
