Scope and content
This fonds consists of a list giving the name of the parish and the date at which the first church was erected in that parish. This is followed by the names of the earliest Catholic settlers in that parish many of whom predate the building of the parish church. Approximately half of the names are followed by a date and/or place of emigration.
Rev. Alfred Edward Burke, priest, publicist, platformer and politician, served as secretary to Bishop MacIntyre in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island from 1885 to 1887. It is believed that at this time he compiled his brief histories of the mission parishes of Prince Edward Island. This list is gathered from those histories and compiled by Louis J. Daley.
