Scope and content
According to the Lower Freetown Women’s Institute’s “A History of Lower Freetown,” the Freetown School was first mentioned in the records of the Department of Education for 1848. The first school was on the south side of the Freetown Road, and the second school, which was used until early 1951, was on the road leading from Bedeque to Malpeque. The third school was built directly across the road from the site of the second school.
This series consist of photocopied minutes of the Lower Freetown School for 18 June 1929 to 2 July 1940. Also included among the minutes are financial records for 1929 to 1942.
