This subseries consists 27 files of correspondence and notes regarding the Gasoline Tax levied on Prince Edward Island in accordance to the Gas Tax Act of 1851. Much of the correspondence relates to requests for rebates under the tax act, requests that have been honored and one file specifically for rejected claims. Also included are files dealing with individual companies, some from Prince Edward Island and others who had operations in the province. One file contains licenses issued to oil companies as wholesalers in accordance with the regulations set out in the Act.
