Biographical history

Harriet G. Wyand was the sixth of twelve children of John and Margaret Wyand of Cavendish, Prince Edward Island. John, a cabinet maker and farmer, married Margaret Smith of Alexandria, PEI. Their daughter Harriet, "Hattie," was born on the 11 April 1847. In the 1880s, Harriet and her sisters Mary Ann, Alice, and Catherine all lived in Charlottetown and worked as dressmakers. Hattie married John MacDougall, after which they moved to the United States where they lived in both North Carolina and Massachusetts.

The autograph book contains autographs and messages of individuals, the majority of whom were from Massachusetts, as well as from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and England.
