Scope and content
Series includes 19 questionnaires sent to elderly residents of Prince Edward Island in June 1876, by D. Currie possibly on behalf of Judge George Alley, regarding the local history of Prince Edward Island. Questionnaires may have been sent as a prelude to the formation of the Historical Society of Prince Edward Island or as an exercise in gathering information for a PEI history. The questionnaires were on printed forms including 99 questions ranging from place and date of birth of the respondent to agriculture, education, local travel, crops, wildlife, game, amusements, religion, etc. The series also includes an account of the settlement of Prince County and a listing of documents from the collection of Judge Alley.
